Since we arrived in the U.S. in 2013 my husband Claudemir had invited us to take the tour of the Everglades National Park, but my daughter and I already saw crocodiles in a farm in Brazil and we didn't want to visit this place.
But suddenly he invited us to get in the car for a ride but he didn't tell us where we were going, so we ended up on the Everglades 🙂

Leaving Doral, where we live, it took us 41 minutes to get to the place.

On arrival, we passed through a store (that means you can buy the souvenir).
We purchased a crocodile-shaped can opener that's also a fridge magnet, we paid $ 5.00 for the it.

I recommend paying for the full tour, as the coolest part is the the Airboat.
A nice ride through the swamp with the guide that explains everything about the alligators and then makes a radical maneuver with the airboat.
It's a place with enough attractions just to stay a few hours in the morning or afternoon, but it worth because it's pretty typical of Florida and the cost of the tour is very affordable.

There are different options for the tour, you can buy a complete package that includes a visit to the "alligator farm" plus the tour on the AirBoat, or buy the partial package that only allows you to visit the farm and see the attractions.

I think is better to buy the complete package that includes the ride on the Airboat as it is the most exciting part.
Child up to 4 years old does not pay entrance if it is only to visit the farm, but if it is to ride the Airboat, it's necessary to pay. We spent $ 81 for 3 people, including taxes.
You can see all kinds of reptiles. Beautiful iguanas and lizards.
There are some strange birds with long feathers, ducks and the parrot that keep saying "Hello" and "Bye" at the entrance.

Do not forget to bring quarters to buy the food to feed the animals. You can have some fun with the small animals.

We witnessed the fight between two alligators (it was not for food !).
They just like to play with each other, they were rolling over, that was funny.
Watch the video below Amanda feeding the animals
There are 5 nurseries with different sizes of alligators and the small ones seems to be more hungry.

The 3 activities that exist in this location are described on the map that you get when you buy the tickets and they comes with attractions schedules.
But you can't miss out anything because they advertise on the microphone.
The show with the alligators is very exciting and you learn about the animals.

After the show, the man distributes some small alligators (with their mouth closed with tape) so you can take a photo and not get bitten

Watching the animals being fed is cool because they've gotten used to seeing the audience and really don't care about people around.

The funniest thing was to think that a cell phone could end up eaten by an alligator because there was a gentleman who was abusing his mobile in the selfie-stick 🙂
Not that it would be cool for the guy to lose his cell phone, but just imagine that situation was funny... but nothing happened.
And suddenly we could hear the announcement on the speaker that in 5 minutes the airboat ride would start.
You just hand the guide your ticket and he tells you where you can seat.
We ended up on row 3 of the last boat.

The ride on the airboat seemed to be boring at first, but that was just my wrong impression.
I thought it would not be fun, but the guide asked us to use the headphones to protect ourselves from the noise of the boat before start the ride.
Bags must go on the floor of the boat picture can be taken anywhere.

The ride starts with airboat going slowly, it's possible to see some alligator but then everything changes suddenly with the guide speeding up the thing 🙂
Watch this airboat video
(This video is not from our ride, but you can get an idea about the Airboat)
It was really fun, the guide was not only speeding up the airboat, he was also working on some crazy maneuvers with zigzags and 360 spins.
I came out soaked on my left side and the water was everywhere in the airboat, it was really cool.
If you have the opportunity to ride the airboat, I can assure you gonna like the experience because is very fun.

We found a nice place to eat
In the park, there is a small place where they sell some things: sandwiches, burgers, etc. There are some drink machines scattered around the place.
However, we decided to find another place to eat and enjoy a little bit more.
We left the park and found LOS AZTECAS Mexican food some miles away.
A simple and delicious and cheap food. I ate Mexican Steak (rice, beans, mashed potatoes, salad and meat).
Claudemir chose a dish with NOPALOS (rice beans as mashed potatoes, and eggs with a type of cactus).
Amanda ate a burger (as always), and took 3 orange juices.
The bill was $ 23.00 and we gave $ 5.00 a tip.

I have to confess that it was really fun and we could enjoy and get wet together 🙂
I recommend to visit the Everglades National Park and take this tour, the place it is open every day from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
