When I mention "immigrating," I mean getting a visa or green card so that you can live in America without fear of deportation.  It's important for everyone reading this article to know their personal situation before they take any steps toward immigrating--and don't forget about consulting with an attorney!  What you need to know before moving to the United States Before moving to the United States, it is essential to know the basics.  You need to know how to apply for a visa or permanent residency, what documents you need, where to find them, and how much it will cost.  It's also necessary to have a place to stay, and more importantly, how you will support yourself financially.  Make a plan and bring enough money to have a decent life.  If you are coming to the United States for a job, company relocation, or study abroad program, most likely, your employer will handle all of this for you.  However, it is crucial that you research how to apply for Visas and permits beforehand because there are different Visa restrictions, depending on every situation.  What are the most popular visa categories to live and work in the US?  What I learned is that there are many different types of visas for immigrants who want to live in the United States.  Immigrants can get a new visa that grants them entry into the United States and permission to work and study.  The most popular types of visa categories for living and working in the US are:  1. Student Visa  Student Visa allows people to come to the US and study at an American college or university. However, people with student visas cannot work in America the same way a permanent resident can.  Please be aware of the restriction related to the job for students.  2. Work Visa  The work Visa is for people who want to work in the US. They can choose from any occupation that doesn't require American citizenship. Still, they must have a job offer before arriving on these shores, or they will be considered illegal immigrants in America.  3. Marriage Visa  The Marriage Visa is for people who want to live in the US and marry an American citizen.   They must provide evidence that their marriage was not arranged, show proof of how they met and when, have spousal sponsorship from a close relative or guardian if under 18 years old, have been together with the spouse for at least three years before coming to the country.  4. Temporary Worker Program (H-2B)  A Temporary worker program applies to those who want to live in the US and are not permanent residents of the country.   They must have a job offer from an American employer, show how they will financially support themselves while living here, prove their ability to speak English is at least on par with a person born in the United States before being approved for this Visa type.  5. Temporary Worker Program (H-2B)  This type of Visa is designed for people with a financial background looking to inject capital into American businesses.   They are usually needed by small or new companies that don’t have access to traditional funding sources such as banks or venture capitalists. Freedom can be seen everywhere in America--in how we dress, what music we listen to, what religion we practice.
